What Is SESAC?

Who SESAC Pays:

• Songwriters
• Composers
• Publishers

Each song earns:

• Writer’s Share (paid to the songwriter)
• Publisher’s Share (paid to the publisher or to you if self-published)

SESAC members are often more established writers, film/TV composers, or producers.

 What SESAC Tracks:

• AM/FM and satellite radio
• TV (broadcast and cable)
• Streaming (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, etc.)
• Live performances (concerts, festivals, clubs)
• Public spaces (bars, gyms, retail stores)

 How You Earn:

1. You must be invited and accepted as a SESAC writer.
2. You register your works in SESAC’s system.
3. SESAC tracks performance data and pays royalties quarterly.

 How to Join:

• SESAC is not open enrollment. You must be invited or referred.
• They are selective, often seeking writers with commercial potential or existing placements.
